The Hard Hat Goes To...

It may have taken 13 innings to do so, but the Reds (51-55) picked up a big win Friday night over the Giants (61-45) 4-3 at Great American Ball Park -- snapping a four-game skid for Dusty Baker's bunch.

The affair lasted nearly four and half hours and saw 37 players get action.

Cincinnati wasted another quality start from Dontrelle Willis who surrendered just two runs in his six innings of work.  However, the Hard Hat for this Reds win goes to an unlikely source, Jose Arredondo.

After retiring San Francisco in order using only four pitches in the top half of the 13th, he promptly smacked a single in his first, career big league at-bat in the bottom of the inning to keep the Reds rally going.  Former Giant and last year's World Series MVP Edgar Renteria sent the home crowd happy immediately following Arredondo with a single down the right field line.
