From nola.com,
"1939 — The first Major League Baseball game was televised as WXBS brought their cameras to Brooklyn's Ebbets Field for a doubleheader between the Cincinnati Reds and the Dodgers."
Some fans must have heard the that games are on TV now because they sure didn't show up to watch in person yesterday.
Anyways, baseball has come a long way since 1939, with nearly every game being televised in some way (and in color, HD, and some even 3D nonetheless), whether it be Fox Sports Ohio, ESPN, or the MLB Network. Plus there are a number of shows dedicated to analyzing baseball and just showing highlights (web gem anyone?). One of these days we'll be able to reach through the TV and snag a fly ball.
Of course, the Reds are off today, due to the game being moved to yesterday in anticipation of the impending hurricane, but they will resume play tomorrow at Great American Ball Park against Jonny Gomes and the Nationals.
