Quotes & Notes: Francisco, Willis & More

  • Dusty Baker on Juan Francisco's 502 ft homer in the 2nd: "That was probably one of the longest home runs I've seen in a very long time."
  • Francisco on his mammoth blast: "I hit it right on the spot where I have to hit it. This is the longest home run I've hit, but I've hit a lot of home runs that they didn't tell me how long they were."
  • Dontrelle Willis on his rough start: "I didn't do anything right out there today, all around," Willis said. "My sequences were bad, location was bad. They had a good plan. I think they adjusted from the start before and hats off to them. It was one of those days. Even in the morning, I didn't have a good day all around."
  • Chris Valaika is due to have surgery on his right knee after tearing his ACL in Sunday's 4-1 defeat at Colorado. The procedure is set for sometime next week and the infielder will miss the remainder of the 2011 season. "I’ll have surgery, and I’ll be ready for spring training,” said the 26-year old.
  • Zack Cozart will also undergo surgery next week -- this time on his right ankle. Cozart had already been out for the season since undergoing surgery on his non-throwing elbow back in late-July.
  • Juan Francisco's 502 ft homer in Monday's game against the Cubs marks the furthest homer hit by a player in MLB this season. It also marks the second-longest in GABP history, trailing only Adam Dunn's 535 ft blast in August of 2004 (vs LAD).
  • The Reds will look to snap a 3-game losing skid when they send out Mike Leake (11-9, 4.00 ERA) for his final start of '11 to face-off against the Cubs' Ryan Dempster (10-11, 4.74 ERA). First pitch slated for 7:10 PM ET.
