Reds' 2012 Schedule Released

In case you missed it, Major League Baseball released its schedules for all 30 teams on Wednesday. For your convenience, you can easily view the Reds' 2012 season schedule here.

After taking a quick glance over the 162-game slate, here are some quick highlights I found worthy of mentioning:

  • The Redlegs host the Miami Marlins (formerly the Florida Marlins) for Opening Day on April 6th at GABP.
  • Cincy will host three American League squads at home next season: the Detroit Tigers (June 8-10), the Cleveland Indians (June 12-14) and the Minnesota Twins (June 22-24).
  • Their remaining six interleague matchups will include a trip to new Yankee Stadium (May 18-20) for a showdown with the Bronx Bombers, as well as a visit to Progressive Field (June 18-20) to battle the Indians again.
  • 21 of their first 31 games will come against NL Central opponents.
  • The team will embark on an 11-game, West Coast road trip through San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego right before the All-Star Break.
  • The 2012 All-Star Game is slated for Tuesday, July 10th at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
  • Their longest homestand of the year is a 10-game stretch during July 13-22.
  • The team will play the Pirates (18 games) more than any other team in baseball in '12.
  • The Reds won't have to face the Philadelphia Phillies at all until late-August.
  • Their schedule concludes with a 3-game series October 1-3 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
