The 1990 Cincinnati Reds received some recognition from Andrew Mindzak of Yahoo! Sports on Thursday, however the recognition won't likely go over well with Reds country. He tabs the '90 squad as one of the five worst teams in history to ever win a World Series.
Here is an excerpt from the piece regarding the Redlegs:
"1990 Cincinnati Reds: This wasn't exactly the Big Red Machine. The Reds finished the year 91-71 and defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates in the NLCS before sweeping the heavily favored Oakland Athletics in the World Series. Sure, Billy Hatcher was a monster in the playoffs, but when you have Todd Benzinger at first, that can't be a good start."
While I'll consent that the '90 club wasn't the best Cincinnati team to have won a World Series, I wouldn't go as far as to saying they ranked among the five worst in MLB history.
What are your thoughts on his list?
