Reds Ink Former Cardinal

Cincinnati signed outfielder Daryl Jones on Wednesday.

A former third-round selection by St. Louis in 2005, the 24-year old hit .260/.360/.400 with 7 homers, 35 RBI, and 12 doubles splitting time between Springfield (AA) and Memphis (AAA) last year.

The left-handed hitting and throwing Jones will be entering his seventh professional season in 2012, all of which coming in the minor leagues.

He was named the organization's player of the year in 2008 by the Cardinals after batting .316/.407/.483 with 13 homers, 49 RBI and 24 stolen bases.

Who knows? Maybe Jones will turn into a David Freese-like player in the future for the Redlegs.
