New Double-A Affiliate Tabs Manager

Former Washington Nationals manager Jim Riggleman is set to take over the managing reins of the Reds new Double-A affiliate, according to multiple reports. He will become the first manager in Pensacola Blue Wahoos history, who are set to kick-off their inaugural season in 2012.

Riggleman most recently served as Nats skipper from 2009 to June of this year before abruptly resigning amid contract disputes. He served as a scout for the San Francisco Giants in the final half of this past season -- a position in which the Giants left on the table for him to continue if he so desired.

But an obvious itch to get back on the field has led him to minor league baseball in the Southern League.

The 59-year old veteran last managed in the minors back in 1992 as the head man for the San Diego Padres Class AAA affiliate. Since then he's managed four different MLB clubs for parts of 12 seasons, compiling a 662-824 (.445) over that span.
