What they are saying (quotes)

Since there's still not a whole lot to write about games-wise, here are some notable quotes I found around the web from some of the Reds players:

“We’re going to work on it this spring. I’m definitely going to get where I’m more comfortable doing it. But there are going to be a lot of times during the year where teams make a point to take the bunt away. When they’re playing way in on the corners, it’s tough to beat it out even if you lay down a good bunt. I’m definitely going to have it in the arsenal to use at any time. But it’s not what defines my game by any means. I try to be as well-rounded as possible.” -CF Drew Stubbs on bunting

“I’m going to make it pretty simple for just about everybody. You guys are going to get the same answer. I’m going to leave all that to Reds front office, my agent and myself, keep it as private as possible. I don’t think it’s fair to the fans. It’s certainly not fair to the team to let this stuff creep into the season and become a distraction." -1B Joey Votto on a possible contract extension

“I thought it would be over with by now. It is what it is. The only thing I can do is go out there and play the game, do what’s best for the team. I love the moves we made to make the team better. That’s what it’s all about. We can all go out and get things done. My day will come. I’m not really worried about it. I’m letting my agent and the Reds take care that themselves." -2B Brandon Phillips on a possible contract extension

Latos
"I've heard Opening Day is one of the best, if not the best, in the game. To go from a baseball atmosphere in San Diego to a huge baseball atmosphere in Cincinnati, with all the history there, it's going to be an exciting year." -SP Mat Latos on Opening Day in the Queen City

“It doesn’t matter at this point. Trying to point fingers or prove somebody wrong doesn’t do any good. That’s why I’m not a lawyer. I’m a baseball player. I’m here to do a job to the best of my ability, and everything else will take care of itself.’’ -RP Ryan Madson on being a Scott Boras client

"I'm looking at the present. I just want to go out and play and be tired at the end of the year, if it is my last year. I want to make sure that I can play and be responsible." -3B Scott Rolen on 2012

"I was the opposite, man. I was excited. We get a guy with some experience and has helped teams win. I want to win. I'll gladly trade 100 less at-bats in order to win. Not that I feel that's necessary, but I would gladly do it." -OF Chris Heisey on hearing of the team's signing of Ryan Ludwick
