Six Reds players have their alma mater in NCAA Tourney

Many consider March Madness to be the best time of the year. In fact, the wild upsets, crazy buzzer beaters, busted brackets, and large office pools practically make this weekend an unofficial national holiday.

Of the many things running through my mind today there were two in particular that aided in the creation of this post. The first involved Reds baseball and the second came to me while watching a little NCAA Tournament action. Then I thought to myself, how can I incorporate the two? The result of my brainstorming is what you see below.

After a bit of research, I counted at least SIX Reds players who are undoubtedly rooting for their alma mater in this year's Big Dance. Here's a list of the players and their respective schools:

RHP Andrew Brackman - North Carolina State
RHP Nick Christiani - Vanderbilt University
RHP Sam LeCure - University of Texas
OF  Ryan Ludwick - University of Nevada, Las Vegas
LHP Sean Marshall - Virginia Commonwealth University
OF  Drew Stubbs - University of Texas

*Update* - Looks like the madness ended early for Stubbs, LeCure and Ludwick as the Longhhorns and Runnin' Rebels got bounced in the Round of 64. The beat goes on for Brackman, Christiani and Marshall, as each of their schools advanced to the Round of 32.

I know she isn't a Reds player but Dallas Latos went to St. Mary's right? I think she has tweeted about it. I'm sure Mat would root for them.

Nice! You're probably correct on that.
