Reds Week in Review: 4/9 to 4/15

The Cincinnati Reds had a week that they would like to put behind them. Let's all hope that they do exactly that. It was a rather dismal week that did not result in many wins and resulted in more negative outlook than positive outlook from many in Reds Country. Let's take a look at the past week for the Redlegs.

Record For the Week: 2-5
Overall Record: 4-6
Standings: The Reds currently sit three games back of the first place St. Louis Cardinals (7-3).

Highs of the Week:
- Aroldis Chapman appeared in three games during the past week pitching five innings while striking out nine batters. Opponents had two hits and posted a .118 average against him. Chapman gave up no runs during his appearances.
- Logan Ondrusek appeared in four games pitching 3.2 innings giving up four hits and striking out three. Ondrusek gave up no runs during his appearances.
- Joey Votto was 7-for-24 posting a .292 average during the past seven games. He had two RBI to go along with the seven hits. He walked six times and scored four runs.

Lows of the Week:
- Willie Harris was 1-for-16 at the plate posting an .063 average while scoring one run.
- Chris Heisey was 1-for-11 at the plate with an .091 average. His one hit was a walk off hit against the Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon.
- Ten of the Reds position players hit below .250 for the week.
- The Reds offense was anemic to say the least. The Reds as a team during the week scored a total of 16 runs. Half of those runs came in the Sunday victory over the Nationals. The Reds scored three runs or less in every other game during the week.

Look Ahead to Next Week:
- The Reds take on two division rivals this upcoming week. They head to St. Louis for the first of three games starting on Tuesday. After that the Reds will head to Chicago to take on the Chicago Cubs.
- Let's hope Sunday was a sign to come for the team's offense. The offense scored 8 runs on a total of 13 hits.
