Series notes: St. Louis Cardinals

The Reds (4-6) continue their 11-day, 10-game road trip with a visit to Busch Stadium beginning on Tuesday. After losing three of four to the Nationals over the weekend, the team will hope to fare better this series against the first place Cardinals (7-3). In order to do so, they'll have to muffle the potent Redbirds offense which currently leads the majors in several offensive categories.

Here's a sneak peek at the game times, pitching probables and other notes for the series:

Tuesday - 8:15pm ET: Johnny Cueto (1-0, 2.25) vs. Kyle Lohse (2-0, 1.35)

Wednesday - 8:15pm ET: Mat Latos (0-1. 5.59) vs. Jaime Garcia (1-0, 4.22)

Thursday - 1:45pm ET: Bronson Arroyo (0-0, 2.63) vs. Adam Wainwright (0-2, 11.42)

* St. Louis leads the season series 2-1 after taking two out of three at GABP last week.
* The Reds are 18-31 all-time in Busch Stadium including a 4-5 mark in 2011.
* Mike Matheny's bunch is undefeated (3-0) in night games this year while the Redlegs are winless (0-4).
* Utilityman down - Miguel Cairo is listed as day-to-day after injuring his left hamstring in Saturday's contest against the Nats.
* Ailing Redbirds - SP Chris Carpenter (shoulder) and 2B Skip Schumaker (oblique) will not see action in the series as they're both currently listed on the 15-Day DL. 3B David Freese (finger) is listed as day-to-day, but is expected to be in the lineup on Tuesday. 1B Lance Berkman (calf) is also listed as day-to-day, however, it's still unknown whether or not he'll be back in the St. Louis lineup by Tuesday.
* Offensive frontrunners - The Cardinals currently lead the majors in runs scored (57), hits (106), batting average (.299), on-base percentage (.359), and slugging (.504).
* No offense - In comparison, the Reds rank 25th in runs scored(31), 25th in hits (70), 27th in batting average (.205), 28th in on-base percentage (.270), and T-27th in slugging (.319).
* St. Louis blues - Arroyo is 7-12 with a 4.59 ERA in 31 career outings against STL...2-5 with a 5.64 ERA in 12 starts at Busch Stadium.
* The division rivals won't meet again until after the All-Star Break in mid-July.
