Series notes: Washington Nationals

After narrowly escaping a sweep by the Cardinals on Wednesday, the Reds (3-3) take to the road for a 4-game clash against the Washington Nationals (4-2) beginning on Thursday. It will mark Cincy's one and only trip to Nationals Park during the 2012 campaign.

Here's a sneak peak at the game times and pitching probables, as well as some notables for the series:

Thursday - 1:05pm ET: Mat Latos (0-1, 7.71 ERA) vs. Gio Gonzalez (0-0, 9.82 ERA)

Friday - 7:05pm ET: Bronson Arroyo (0-0, 5.68 ERA) vs. Jordan Zimmerman (0-1, 1.29 ERA)

Saturday - 4:05pm ET: Homer Bailey (0-1, 6.35 ERA) vs. Edwin Jackson (0-0, 5.40 ERA)

Sunday - 1:35pm ET: Mike Leake (0-1, 4.50 ERA) vs. Ross Detwiler (1-0, 0.00 ERA)

Notables:
-Thursday's game is the homer opener for Washington. A sellout crowd is expected to be on hand to take in the action.
-Thursday's game will also mark the first of ten straight road games for Dusty Baker's bunch.
-Of those ten road games, seven of them will be played during the daytime hours.
-Cincinnati will not get the chance to square off against phenom Stephen Strasburg. The fireballer pitched six, shutout innings on Wednesday in a win against the Mets.
-The Reds are 5-7 all-time at Nationals Park. They were 1-2 in 2011.
-The team will likely be without the services of Brandon Phillips for at least Thursday's affair. The 30-year old is still bothered by a sore left hamstring after injuring himself in Monday's loss to St. Louis.
-The Nats enter the series third in the league in team batting average (.254) and second in on-base percentage (.346).
-Their pitching staff leads the league in strikeouts (57) and ranks second in both ERA (2.25) and BAA (.205).
