MINOR details 6/17/12: Three first halves come to a close

Bats (22-49), Last place International League West, 19.0 GB
-Pedro Villarreal (L 2-4, 3.86) gave up six earned runs in six innings to suffer the loss. Wirfin Obispo and Travis Webb combined to toss a scoreless inning.
-3B Mike Costanzo and C Dioner Navarro both doubled and drove in a run, with Costanzo also scoring one of his own. DH Corky Miller was 1-2, with an RBI. 2B Cody Puckett also had an RBI.
*Saturday’s game - Louisville 11 Rochester 5

Blue Wahoos (34-35), 3rd place Southern League South, 5.5 GB
-It was an ugly one to finish the first half for Pensacola on Sunday. Kyle Lotzkar (L 3-2, 3.02) allowed five total runs, three earned, on six hits in four innings, while striking out six. Drew Hayes threw 1.2 perfect innings. Curtis Partch and Mark Serrano each tossed a scoreless inning.
-There were just three hits, with SS Didi Gregorius and 1B Joel Guzman each getting a single and 3B David Vidal smacking a double.
*Saturday’s game - Pensacola 6 Mobile 0 - Daniel Corcino (8.0ip) and Wilkin De La Rosa (1.0ip) combined to throw the first no-hitter in team history in that game.

*The Blue Wahoos will be off from Monday to Wednesday for the All-Star Break. Ryan LaMarre will be leading off and starting at CF for the Southern League’s South All-Stars, while Didi Gregorius will start at SS and bat ninth. Josh Fellhauer, Joel Guzman, Daniel Corcino, and J.C. Sulbaran were also named reserves for the game. Henry Rodriguez was also named to the team but won’t play due to injury. Donnie Joseph of course was selected as well, but won’t play due to his recent promotion to Louisville. We will bring you the stats after the game is completed on June 19th.

Blaze (41-29), 1st place California League North, 3.0 up
-In the first-half finale, Chad Rogers pitched three innings yielding one unearned run. Kyle McMyne was credited with the win despite giving up three earned runs in two innings. Brooks Pinckard got the save (2), striking out two in a perfect inning.
-SS Billy Hamilton saved his best for last, going 2-4, with an RBI, two runs scored, and five stolen bases to bring his season total to 80. CF Theo Bowe was 4-5, with an RBI. C Tucker Barnhart had two hits, including a double and a two-run home run (3). 2B Devin Lohman and DH Juan Duran each drove in a run.

*The Blaze are off from Sunday through Wednesday in observance of All-Star festivities. Billy Hamilton was tabbed as a starter for the All-Star game. Donald Lutz, Chad Rogers, Brian Pearl, and Tony Cingrani were also named to the 2012 California League All-Star team, though Lutz (injury) and Cingrani (promotion) will not play. The California League All-Star team will play the Carolina League All-Stars on June 19th. We will update you on how the Blaze players perform in the game.

Dragons (30-40), Last place Midwest League Eastern, 17.5 GB
-The Dragons pulled off a win in their first-half finale. Stalin Gerson turned in a quality start with six innings of three-run baseball. James Allen (W 4-2, 5.70) got the win with two scoreless innings. Carlos Contreras got his seventh save with a scoreless ninth.
-DH Joe Terry was 2-3, with a two-run shot (3). C Nick O’Shea recorded a double and an RBI.
*Saturday’s game - Lake County 11 Dayton 2

*The Dragons are off from Monday through Thursday due to All-Star festivities. Ryan Wright was selected to represent Dayton in the Midwest League All-Star game. We will let you know how he does after the game is play on June 19th.

The Billings Mustangs begin play today, Monday, June 18th, which means 2011 first-round pick Robert Stephenson will soon make his much anticipated debut.
