MINOR details 6/19/12: Robert Stephenson dazzles in his pro debut

On Tuesday night, Stephenson made
the Reds look smart for drafting him.

-Ryan Feierabend gave up two earned runs in 5.2 innings. Scott Carroll tossed a scoreless innings. Donnie Joseph (W 1-0, 0.00) got his first AAA win with 1.1 scoreless innings. Jordan Smith got the save (7) with a perfect ninth.
-3B Mike Costanzo drove in a run. C Dioner Navarro smacked a solo home run (8) in the eighth inning. 2B Cody Puckett was 2-2, with a two-run homer (1).

Mustangs (1-1), T-1st place Pioneer League West, --- GB
-2011 first-rounder, Robert Stephenson, had a nice pro debut, striking out eight in five innings, while allowing just one unearned run. Mat Wiley (W 1-0, 0.00) got the win after getting the final out of the top of the tenth. In between, Nolan Becker (1.2), Bennett Klimesh (1.1), Nick Routt (1.2) combined for 4.2 scoreless innings of relief.
-CF Jon Matthews had only one hit, but it was a big one as it drove in the walk-off run. 1B Carlos Sanchez also drove in a run on a hit. SS Brandon Dailey finished 2-4.

-J.C. Sulbaran was credited with a hold, pitching a scoreless inning, allowing one hit and striking out one. He was the only Blue Wahoos pitcher to appear in the game.
-CF Ryan LaMarre led off for the South, but finished 0-3, with a strikeout. SS Didi Gregorius went 1-4, with an RBI. RF Josh Fellhauer appeared as a pinch-hitter, going 0-1, with a walk and a steal.

-Chad Rogers gave up a hit and an unearned run, while striking out one in his inning of work. Brian Pearl got a strikeout and a flyout against the two Carolina League All-Stars he faced.
-SS Billy Hamilton went 1-5, with a run scored, two steals, and three strikeouts. The one hit was an exciting one though, as he got on with a bunt single, then stole second and third with ease, before scoring on a groundout. Hamilton also took home MVP honors for the Cal League team.

-DH Ryan Wright came in as a pinch hitter and finished 1-3, with an RBI and a strikeout for the East. He was also on the right side of an absolute butt-whipping.

The AZL Reds will start their season tonight (June 20th) against the AZL Indians at 7:00pm local time.
