MINOR details 7/17/12: Gomez slam leads Mustangs in 15-run onslaught

Bats (36-62), Last place International League West, 24.5 GB
-Tim Gustafson made somewhat of an emergency start and threw 5.1 scoreless innings. Travis Webb and Jordan Smith each tossed a scoreless inning. Donnie Joseph blew the save in the ninth giving up one earned run. Kanekoa Texeira (L 0-1, 2.02) got the loss, allowing the walk-off run to score in the tenth.
-DH Neftali Soto hit a two-run home run (11) and scored two runs. 2B Chris Valaika knocked in a run. C Corky Miller was 2-3, with a solo shot (5).

Blue Wahoos (49-46, 15-11), T-1st place Southern League South, 3.0 up
-Wirfin Obispo allowed three earned runs in four innings. Brian Pearl and Justin Freeman each tossed a scoreless inning. Curtis Partch hurled 1.2 scoreless innings. Mark Serrano (L 6-2, 2.81) suffered the loss when an unearned run crossed in the 10th.
-SS Billy Hamilton was 1-4, with a run and a steal (6, 110). CF Ryan LaMarre was 2-3, with a double and an RBI. C Tucker Barnhart collected a hit and an RBI. LF Donald Lutz (1) and 3B David Vidal (5) each blasted a solo homer.

Blaze (53-43, 12-14), 3rd place California League North, 3.5 GB
-Tanner Robles (L 1-1, 1.53) got the loss, pitching 6.2 innings of three-run baseball. One unearned run scored during Jamie Walczak’s 1.1 innings.
-3B Travis Mattair hit a two-run shot (15). C Chris Berset recorded a double.

Dragons (39-55, 9-15), Last place Midwest League Eastern, 6.0 GB
Dayton was off on Tuesday night. They’ll welcome the Clinton Lumberkings to town Wednesday night at 7:00pm local time.

-Ismael Guillon (W 2-1, 3.16) gave up two earned runs in five innings. Carlos Ramos threw two scoreless innings of relief to finish the game.
-LF Jesse Winker had two hits, an RBI, and three runs scored. 3B Seth Mejias-Brean was 2-4, with a three-run shot (2) and three runs. RF Jeff Gelalich and 1B Carlos Sanchez each had an RBI. 2B Robert Ramirez hit a solo jack (1). C Wagner Gomez was 2-4, with a double, a grand slam (2), and two runs. SS Brandon Dailey collected two doubles and an RBI.

Mustangs (16-13), 2nd place Pioneer League North, 3.0 GB
-Sal Romano (L 1-3, 6.65) allowed six earned runs on 10 hits in 4.2 innings. Dan Langfield struck out four in two perfect innings.
-3B Mejias-Brean was 2-3, with a double. RF Gelalich also had a double.

Reds (4-16), Last place Arizona League Central, 11.0 GB
-Wandy Peralta (L 1-3, 5.57) took the loss, surrendering three runs, just one earned, in 3.2 innings. Richard McCaffery pitched 3.1 innings, allowing one unearned run. Robert Lewis-Walker threw a scoreless inning.
-3B Tanner Rahier was 2-4, with a double and a run. DH Adam Matthews recorded the only RBI.
