MLB Power Rankings Update

Okay, so we at Redlegs Review don't pretend to be experts on Major League Baseball outside of the Reds (of course). Most of our focus goes toward watching the Queen City's team with an occasional shift of attention around the league. However, we feel like we know enough to justify ranking all 30 clubs from best-to-worst. Here's the result of our collaboration below.

One thing to keep in mind while reading: we took in consideration each team's overall performance up until this point along with their recent play on the diamond as well. That's how we can explain ranking the Yanks fourth despite being tied for baseball's best record with the Nats. They're 4-6 in their last 10 and were swept by the A's over the weekend. This is also how can peg Oakland as no. 6 in spite of having ten clubs with better records than they do.

This can best explain the
mindset of Houston now
30. Houston Astros
The AAAstros are just a plain out bad team. They are in full rebuilding mode trading every player that even has a little value.

29. Colorado Rockies
The Rockies are having a really bad year but have one bright spot in Carlos Gonzalez who is having a great year and would be in MVP discussions if the Rockies were in contention.

28. Minnesota Twins
The Twins are again one of the worst teams in baseball even though they have two former MVPs on their roster.

27. San Diego Padres
The Padres are not very good this year but they are a young team on the rise led by two prospects they got dealing Mat Latos in Yonder Alonso and Yasmani Grandal.

26. Chicago Cubs
The Cubs are still looking to trade pitchers Matt Garza and Ryan Dempster for hopefully some really good prospects to speed along their rebuilding plans because really the only thing going for the Cubs is that they aren’t in last place.

25. Kansas City Royals
The Royals have some nice young players but they have the same situation as the Cubs where the only thing going for them is that they’re not in last.
Is that Ichiro in Pinstripes?!

24. Seattle Mariners
The Mariners are in total sell mode right now and that may include ace Felix Hernandez.

23. Miami Marlins
The Marlins are having the definition of a fire sale right now having a blockbuster trade for what seems like every day. They will soon see their name slide down this list.

22. Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers season, in my opinion, is finally over. They just lost 3 heartbreaking games to the Phillies and are expected to start selling.

21. Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies have been showing signs of life lately with many comeback wins but I don’t see that continuing for long. But on the bright side they locked up Cole Hamels for 6 years.

20. New York Mets
The Mets looked like real contenders for a little but have now lost 6 in a row and don’t look as promising.

19. Cleveland Indians
The Indians are finally back over .500 and may have some life or at least hope being down only 3.5 games.

Don't sleep on Bobby V and the Sox
18. Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox have gotten back their intended line-up and may make a run at that second wild card spot.

17. Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays are a very talented team that isn’t playing to their potential but yet are still over .500.

16. Arizona Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks have been red hot lately on a 5 game win streak and are slowly getting back in contention.

15. Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays aren’t looking so good with Longoria possibly not coming back in 2012 but their very strong starting rotation may be able to carry them to the playoffs.

14. St. Louis Cardinals
The Cardinals have been hot lately but have not made up any ground in their division because the Pirates and Reds just refuse to lose.

13. Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles might be the most underrated team in all of baseball. They are 5 games over .500 in a very tough division and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them in the playoffs thanks to the second wild-card.

12. Chicago White Sox
The White Sox took back first from the Tigers thanks to a 3 game win streak and some help from the Indians and Ubaldo Jimenez.

11. Atlanta Braves
The Braves are finally living up to their potential and are beating all the teams they’re supposed to beat.
Peace out, Miami.
Hello, Los Angeles.

 10. L.A. Dodgers
The Dodgers finally got Ethier and Kemp some help by trading for Hanley Ramirez who should be enough to get first place in the division back but I have a feeling they aren’t done.

9. Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates have just traded for Wandy Rodriquez which is a puzzling move to some since they need hitting more but there is no doubt about it that Wandy makes the Pirates rotation much better.

8. Detroit Tigers
The Tigers seem to have a problem of playing down to their competition but are still 0.5 out of first and in my opinion too talented to miss the playoffs.

7. San Francisco Giants
The Giants line-up is starting to come to life and the Giants will be hard to beat if Lincecum finally gets it together.

Billy Beane is working his magic
in Oakland
6. Oakland Athletics
The Athletics have been the hottest team in baseball as of late and appear to be for real.

5. Los Angeles Angels
The Angels have been on fire since calling Mike Trout up and right now their rotation has been the only thing keeping them from first place.

4. New York Yankees
After getting swept by the Athletics, the Yankees went out and got Ichiro but right after A-rod got hurt. The Yankees are going to need to find a replacement for him soon or they are going to start falling out of first place.

3. Cincinnati Reds
The Reds have been surprisingly hot after Votto’s injury being on a 6 game win streak and a chance to add to that on their current road trip against the two worst teams in the league in the Astros and the Rockies.

2. Washington Nationals
The Nationals have been the best team in the National League lately thanks to an amazing rotation and Zimmerman, LaRoche , and Desmond stepping up and carrying the line-up.

1. Texas Rangers
The Rangers are just by far the best team in baseball. They have just an unbelievable line-up and are probably going to acquire a starting pitcher such as; Zack Grienke or Ryan Dempster which would just make this team unstoppable.

Tell us what you think! Are the rankings rubbish or right on?
