Notable quotes from the weekend

The Reds put the finishing touches on a three-game sweep over the Cardinals on Sunday night. Here's some of the more notable quotes from the weekend series.

Friday (5-3 Win)
+ "It was like Opening Day. It probably should be like that the rest of the year. People are excited. I hope they stay that way until the end." -Dusty Baker on the soldout crowd
+ "I was just trying to get a spark going -- not necessarily hit a home run, but just get on base. Luckily, I was able to hit it hard enough to get it out. I think it got us going." -Todd Frazier on getting the Reds on the board with a solo bomb in the fifth
+ "That's one of those head-scratchers where you just don't know how that happened." -Cards starter Adam Wainwright on Ryan Hanigan's infield grounder that resulted in two runs and an error by 1B Allen Craig
+ "I'm not really trying to make an excuse for it, but I think rust really was it. I didn't attack as much as I've been doing." -Mat Latos on his outing which lasted only five innings (2 ER, 4 H, 3 BB, 6 K)

Saturday (3-2 Win)
+ "I have a lot of respect for them. I was with them a long time and I would never want to show them up, but it feels good." -Ryan Ludwick on hitting a walk-off homer against his former team
+ "That's the game. We didn't take advantage when we got them on the line. We didn't get a base hit when we needed it." -Cards catcher Yadier Molina
+ "That was a big-time grind all the way through. It was nice to get some of the arms out of the bullpen and come in there after a few days off." -Sam LeCure on the stellar work by the 'pen
+ "Boy, I didn't think that ball was high enough to get out of here. That was on time. That was great for national TV, great for our fans, and the fact that we picked up another game on them, man, that was sweet to win." -Baker on Ludwick's homer

Sunday (4-2 Win)
+ "I hadn't walked a guy all night, and I walked him. Then I hit Phillips, which ultimately cost us the game." -STL starter Jake Westbrook on walking Joey Votto in the eighth
+ "Right there you get an opportunity that just presents itself. You don't think about it and you try not to make it a bigger at-bat than it is. What's going through your head is try to get a good pitch and putting a good swing on it." -Scott Rolen on his two-run single in the eighth
+ "We didn't hit when we needed to. The whole series went like that. We have to keep battling and try to figure out what it is and try to fix it." -Molina on went wrong for the Cards
+ "Homer really came through in the eighth. That's what aces do. That's the time where you've got to really step up and be a man, and he did. There are some real tough hitters up there." -Baker on the job done by Homer Bailey in filling in for the injured Johnny Cueto
