|Arroyo had a rough go of it tonight.|
Bronson Arroyo (L 4-6, 4.03) reverted back to his 2011 ways for the night and was the losing pitcher, giving up five earned runs in just three innings. Arizona starter Wade Miley (W 10-5, 3.13) fared much better allowing three earned runs in 5.2 innings to earn the win. The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for the Redlegs.
-Drew Stubbs finally had a good night, going 2-for-3, with a walk and two RBI (23).
-Brandon Phillips collected two hits, including a double, and his 50th RBI of the season. He's now hitting .291 for the year.
-Chris Heisey reached base twice on two singles and scored a run.
-Alfredo Simon lowered his ERA to 1.53 with three scoreless innings of relief.
-Bill Bray and Jose Arredondo each added a scoreless inning. Logan Ondrusek did too, looking quite dominant by striking out the side.
-Arroyo gave up the five runs on eight hits and a walk, including surrendering a home run.
-Zack Cozart and Jay Bruce both went 0-for-4 on the night. Cozart is hitting .241, while Bruce is batting .246.
-Miguel Cairo was ejected from the game in the seventh for arguing with the home plate umpire, after "grounding out" to the catcher right in front of and/or right on top of the plate. Cairo though it was foul. The umpire said it was fair.
-The Diamondbacks collected 13 hits and were 4-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
-The news about Votto.
-It was partly cloudy and 91 degrees as 27, 735 fans came down to the old ball yard, only to be disappointed by the Reds.
-The game took exactly three hours to play.
-A roster move will be made tomorrow in regards to Votto. Who will it be? Neftali Soto, Dioner Navarro, Henry Rodriguez, someone else?
-The Reds and Diamondbacks get back at it tomorrow night at 7:10pm EST as the ace Johnny Cueto (10-5, 2.39) will look to get Cincinnati back in the win column against rookie Trevor Bauer (1-1, 5.40).
