The fantasy baseball gurus over at ESPN.com recently published their list of the Top 250 fantasy players for the second half of the season. Among them included seven Cincinnati Reds and I've done the diligence of sorting through the mess to see where those Reds ranked so you don't have to. No thanks necessary, folks, I'm just a nice guy.
The number on the left side of their names obviously represents their latest ranking while the one in parenthesis represents the one they received in the previous update from May:
#4 Joey Votto (4)
#28 Jay Bruce (26)
#45 Brandon Phillips (59)
#68 Johnny Cueto (93)
#98 Mat Latos (103)
#109 Aroldis Chapman (225)
#146 Drew Stubbs (104)
+ The pollsters included Matthew Berry, AJ Mass, Eric Karabell, Tristan Cockcroft, Dave Hunter, Shawn Cwalinski, and Brendan Roberts.
+ Sean Marshall fell out of the top 250 completely after having claimed the 203rd spot in the May rankings.
+ The top four remain unchanged as Milwaukee's Ryan Braun claimed the top spot followed by Detroit's Miguel Cabrera, Colorado's Carlos Gonzalez and Votto.
+ As you can see, only Stubbs and Bruce slipped in the rankings.
+ Phillips ranked third overall among all MLB second basemen and first overall among NL'ers, yet didn't get named to the All-Star Game.
+ Bruce came in 14th overall among all MLB outfielders and eighth among all NL'ers.
+ Chapman rated as the 6th-best MLB reliever in the rankings and fourth among NL closers.
