Roster turnover in Major League Baseball is often a gradual yet consistent process. Players come and go from teams just as the wind blows through an open field. With that said, the Reds have had their fair share of departed players over the past few seasons, and I thought it would be interesting to see how some of them were doing with their new clubs.
I'm sure there's a couple of guys here who Reds fans would love to see still wearing the red "C", and also several who they must feel relieved that they no longer are *cough* Francisco Cordero *cough*.
So, without further ado here are updates on a baker's dozen of former Reds:
Yonder Alonso (San Diego Padres)
2012 stats: .272/.341/.388, 6 HR, 42 RBI, 32 2B, 38 RS
Notes: He leads all NL rookies in doubles and is hitting .292 with a .333 OBP since the All-Star Break.
Brad Boxberger (San Diego Padres)
2012 stats: 13g, 0-0, 3.52 ERA, 15.1 IP
(AAA) 34g, 2-2, 3.03 ERA, 5/7 SV, 38.2 IP, 1.34 WHIP

Francisco Cordero (Houston Astros)
2012 stats: 47g, 3-8, 7.55 ERA, 39.1 IP, 2.01 WHIP
Notes: Was traded from Toronto to Houston in mid-July. Has been on the disabled list since August 2nd with a right foot injury.
Adam Dunn (Chicago White Sox)
2012 stats: .207/.339/.500, 38 HR, 87 RBI, 75 RS
Notes: The Big Donkey is batting just .179 in the month of August.
Edwin Encarnacion (Toronto Blue Jays)
2012 stats: .293/.388/.569, 33 HR, 86 RBI, 23 2B, 13 SB
Notes: The 29-year old has already set new career-highs in homers, RBI, runs scored, and stolen bases.
Juan Francisco (Atlanta Braves)
2012 stats: .253/.299 OBP/.463, 8 HR, 28 RBI, 10 2B
Notes: The third basemen is hitting .315 at home (41g), but only .202 (39g) on the road this year.
Yasmani Grandal (San Diego Padres)
2012 stats: .270/.340/.517, 5 HR, 16 RBI, 14 RS
(AAA) .323/.432/.502, 6 HR, 35 RBI, 40 RS, 18 2B
Notes: Spent most of the year in Triple-A Tuscon. Was called up in late June and has been on Padres roster ever since.
2012 stats: .248/.360/.478, 15 HR, 37 RBI, 37 RS
Notes: He delivered a game-winning two-run homer on Friday vs the Rays.
Josh Hamilton (Texas Rangers)
2012 stats: .286/.352/.575, 34 HR, 107 RBI, 81 RS, 23 2B
Notes: The slugger has hit an equal split of homers home and away (17).
Donnie Joseph (Kansas City Royals)
2012 stats: (AAA) 52g, 8-3, 2.42 ERA, 20 SV, 63.1 IP, 1.168 WHIP
Notes: Was included in trade that brought Jonathan Broxton to the Reds. Has posted a 5.73 ERA with two saves in eight outings for Triple-A Omaha.
Ramon Hernandez (Colorado Rockies)
2012 stats: .216/.246/.346, 4 HR, 25 RBI, 9 2B
Notes: The 36-year old backstop has played in just 47 games this season.
Edinson Volquez (San Diego Padres)
2012 stats: 26g, 8-9, 4.18 ERA, 148.2 IP, 1.43 WHIP
Notes: The right-hander boasts an ERA of 3.09 at home and 5.60 on the road in '12.
Travis Wood (Chicago Cubs)
