Reds top 10 prospects list adds Wright, Buckley

Hamilton is very fast.
The last time I did this, I said some of the Reds' top prospects could be very nervous as they could be changing addresses. It turns out #5 J.C. Sulbaran of Pensacola and #7 Donnie Joseph of Louisville were both moved to Kansas City in exchange for veteran reliever Jonathan Broxton. According to MLB 2012 Prospect Watch, that pushed a couple of players up on the list and made way for #9 Ryan Wright and #10 Sean Buckley to move onto it.

The minor league regular seasons will be coming to a close as we near September and the most notable prospect thus far is of course Billy Hamilton, with apologies to Tony Cingrani. Hamilton has been blazing through the 2012 schedule swiping bases as he goes. He has stolen 128 total bases so far with 104 of them being with the High-A Blaze and 24 of them coming with the Double-A Blue Wahoos. He needs 18 more steals over the remaining 25 games, including tonight, to break Vince Coleman's single season record of 145 steals, set in 1983 with Macon. Will he do it? Maybe the better question is how many will he end up getting?

Oh, and 2011 first-rounder Robert Stephenson was promoted to the Dayton Dragons.

Here's the prospect update. To see the last one, go here.
