Reds Win Again Behind Veteran Presence

Scott Rolen hustles, helps team win!
The Reds (66-41) keep rolling and finding ways to win with hustle, defense, and pitching, while scoring just enough runs. Mike Leake fought hard through 6 innings and the bullpen shut the Pittsburgh Pirates (60-46) down. Miguel Cairo and Scott Rolen helped the team with key hits, smart base running and great defense. Here is the usual quick recap.
The Good
-Drew Stubbs got 2 base hits and scored 2 runs.
-Jay Bruce scored a run with a hit
- Scott Rolen provided the winning run with a Pete Rose style head first slide into 3rd for a triple in the 8th inning. Give the old man credit for hustling! He certainly has been a huge part of the Reds success recently. He also had 2 RBI.
- Todd Frazier had a hit and 2 RBI
-Miguel Cairo had a key stolen base and a huge defensive stop late in the game.

The Bad
- It only gets more and more difficult to point out anything bad in how the Reds are playing as they continue to win and stretch out there lead into first place.
-Catcher Dioner Navarro went 0-4 with a strike out, while gaining some experience while Mesoraco is on the concussion disabled list.
-Wilson Valdez went 0-3.
-Mike Leake did have a throwing error.

The Notables
- The Reds are now 25 games over .500 and own the best record in baseball.
-Tonight's announced sellout at GABP marked the 11th of the season. The single season record is 12. Look for that to be broken very soon with the way the team is playing right now.
- The team has now won 5 in a row and 22 of 25.
-Look for Joey Votto to return within the next week. While there is no rush with the recent success of the team, he took batting practice before the game and should be ready to go soon.
- Sunday's game time is 1:10. The first 8,000 fans 14 and under will receive a Brandon Phillips Drawstring Backpack.
