Leake, Reds beat Astros for fourth straight win

After a greatly needed off day on Thursday, the Reds (81-52) got back to action against the Astros (40-92) in Houston on Friday night. It was the Redlegs who prevailed 9-3.

Mike Leake (W 7-8, 4.45) put together a quality start, which coupled with some potent offense, led Cincinnati to their fourth consecutive win. Houston starter Fernando Abad (L 0-2, 4.83) suffered the loss, giving up six earned runs in 4.1 innings, as the Astros dropped their six straight game.

Here's the good, the bad, and the notables:

The Good
-Leake put together six innings of two-run baseball, striking out six and walking two, to get the win.
-Sam LeCure struck out one in a perfect inning of relief.
-Zack Cozart had a nice game from the leadoff spot, going 2-for-4, with a double, a two-run home run (15) and two runs scored.
-Chris Heisey helped his cause to get more playing time with a 2-for-5 effort, where he drove in two (29) and scored two runs, while starting in center field.
-Jay Bruce delivered a huge blow in the fifth inning with a three-run bomb. It was his 28th homer and gave him his 84th RBI of the season.
-Brandon Phillips went 3-for-5, with an RBI (71).
-Dioner Navarro recorded a single, a double, and two runs.

The Bad
-The Astros scored twice? Bruce bobbled a ball for an error? I really can't find much bad in this one.

The Notables
-15,287 fans came to the juice box to watch the three-hour, three-minute affair.
-The Cardinals lost last night, increasing the Reds lead to 9.5 games in the NL Central.
-Homer Bailey (10-9, 4.24) will face off against Lucas Harrell (10-9, 3.92) on Saturday night at 7:05pm EST.
