On this day in Reds history

+ The 20th anniversary of the infamous Rob Dibble-Lou Piniella fight in the clubhouse.
+ The Reds catch the Phillies stealing signs and then using an electrical messaging system to relay them to their third-base coach.
+ Cincinnati fires manager Rogers Hornsby.
+ Johnny Bench plays his last game at catcher.
+ Ernie Lombardi also plays in his last game.
+ Eppa Rixey allows a walk-off homer.
