Billy Hamilton, Curtis Partch to participate in AFL Rising Stars Game

The 2012 edition of the Arizona Fall League Rising Stars game will be held on Saturday, November 3rd at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. If you want to watch it, it will air live on MLB Network and MLB.com at 8 p.m. ET. The game will feature 19 players from the MLB's Top 100 Prospects list, including No. 14 Billy Hamilton of your very own Cincinnati Reds. Joining Hamilton on the AFL West roster from the Reds organization will be RHP Curtis Partch.

So far this AFL season, Hamilton, the newly-converted outfielder, is struggling a bit at the plate. In 11 games, he is hitting .214 (9-42) with one home run and five runs batted in. He has one triple on the year and has scored six runs, while walking eight times compared to five strikeouts. He is also 6-7 in stolen base attempts. His on-base percentage currently stands at .298. Those aren't the kind of numbers Reds brass were hoping to see I'm sure, but he is also very focused on learning how to play center field. Hopefully his confidence at the position will rise, allowing his bat to come around a bit more before the season ends in mid-November.

Partch has looked very good in the first part of the AFL season. He's pitched 8.2 innings over eight relief appearances and owns a 2.08 ERA. He's allowed six hits and two walks, while striking out ten and picking up one save. The two earned runs he has surrendered have both come from solo homers. Holding batters to a stingy .194 batting average should certainly help his chances of pitching in the game on Saturday.
