Peoria drops two in a row over weekend

Despite a four-run eighth inning, Peoria was unable to rally and lost to Surprise 11-8 on Friday. They tallied 11 hits to the Saguaros' 12 and both teams committed an error in the game. Reds players played a big part in this game, but weren't able to assist in a victory.

-SS Didi Gregorius went 1-4, with an RBI (7) and a walk.

-1B Travis Mattair was 0-3, with a strikeouts, but drove in a run (2).

-RHP Drew Hayes started the game, allowing two unearned runs in two innings. He gave up one hit and one walk, while striking out one to bring his ERA to 4.85.

-RHP Josh Ravin pitched in relief and surrendered two earned runs in 1.2 innings on two hits and a walk. He allowed a home run and struck out one. His ERA is now 7.71.

-RHP Curtis Partch walked two batters, but got out of his one inning pitched with no harm to lower his ERA to 4.22.

It was deja vu on Saturday as the Javelinas lost 11-8 to the Mesa Solar Sox. 13 hits weren't enough for Peoria, as the Solar Sox overcame two errors and pounded out 15 hits in the win. Reds pitchers weren't to blame in this one though.

-SS Gregorius was 1-5 with a triple and a run scored, bringing his batting average to .269 on the season.

-3B Mattair went 1-5, with a double, an RBI (3), and a run scored. He's hitting .250 for the season.
