Recapping the season of Drew Stubbs

Did Stubbs take a step down this year?

Many Reds players experienced tremendous individual success during the 2012 season, but Drew Stubbs wasn't one of them. The 28-year old actually experienced a regression. The Reds hoped this would be the season when the speedy Stubbs finally put it all together, unfortunately it was not. Stubbs struggled mightily at the dish all year long, and it has forced the team to look elsewhere for a solution at the leadoff spot this offseason. In spite of his offensive woes, the Texas native did manage to play his usual stellar defense in center, and that definitely counts for something.

+ Cut down on his strikeout total from a league-leading 205 in 2011 to 166 in 2012

+ Posted a WAR of 0.3 (dWAR:0.5,oWAR:-0.2)
+ Batted .211 (4-19) with an RBI and four runs scored in the NLDS
+ Hit .283 during the regular season against left-handed pitching
+ Hit only .186 against right-handed pitching
+ Led the team in Ks and finished fifth in the NL
+ His 75 runs scored ranked third on the team
+ Ranked fourth on the club in games played (136)
+ Earned a base salary of $527,500
