A Reds fan's Christmas wish list

Notes from someone about to overdose on the song, "Grown-Up Christmas List"! First of all, Merry Christmas from my family to yours. May God’s riches blessings be upon you during 2013. As a Reds fan, I would like to share my wishes for the upcoming season…

1) With Cincinnati’s close proximity to Kentucky, Shin-Soo Choo, should change his name to Shin Shoo Chaw.

2) .285 average, 40-plus homers and 120 RBI for Jay Bruce.

3) 20-plus wins, sub-2.00 ERA, and a second-place finish for Johnny Cueto in Cy Young voting

4) Mat Latos wins the Cy Young award.

5) Yankees finish 62-100.

6) Reds sweep season series vs. St. Louis, Cardinals finish 57-105.

7) Joey Votto wins first NL Triple Crown since Joe Medwick in 1937, and second MVP.

8) In winning the Triple Crown, Joey Votto becomes first National League’s.400 hitter since Bill Terry in 1930.

9) 50-plus saves for Aroldis Chapman.

10) Billy Hamilton sets the Major League record for stolen bases in a season, as a September call-up.
11) Yankees finish 61-101.

12) A winning season for Pittsburgh, 82-80

13) Washington Nationals relocate to Montreal.

14) Miami Marlins relegated to a Double-A team.

15) Another Gold Glove for Brandon Phillips.

16) Over 200 strikeouts for Homer Bailey of the Cincinnati Reds.

17) Over two hundred strikeouts for Drew Stubbs of the Cleveland Indians.

18) Yankees finish 60-102.

19) A number five starter, preferably left handed.

20) Tony Perez joins the Reds front office. (More details later).

21) Hall of Fame induction for Davey Concepcion.

22) Hall of Fame induction for Joe Nuxhall.

23) Houston Astros win AL West.

24) Johnny Cueto “brushes back” Angel Pagan.

25) Reds clinch Central Division, by Memorial Day.

26) Reds break club record for wins, 108 in 1975, by August 15.

27) After finishing 54-108, Yankees fire Joe Girardi and hire Bobby Valentine.

28) Todd Frazier, Zack Cozart wins Gold Glove.

29) Reds send starting eight to All-Star game. Cueto starts game and earns win, Chapman saves it for NL after striking out A-Rod, Pujols, Hamilton, Trout, Cabrera, and Bautista in succession.

30) Reds go undefeated during all rounds of playoffs en route to sixth World Championship.

As you prepare to feast on your Christmas dinner I hope you enjoy my nuggets of things I’d like to see happen in 2013.
