Reds unveil alternate jerseys for 2013

The Cincinnati Reds will sport a new look featuring a Hispanic theme beginning in 2013.

On Saturday, the team announced during Redsfest that it plans to unveil an alternate jersey with the words "Los Rojos" emblazoned on the front. Reds chief operating officer Phil Castellini stated that the festive tops will be worn throughout the season during select home games. The club may also wear them at times when they are on the road.

Dominican Republic native Johnny Cueto was seen donning a Los Rojos jersey this weekend during Redsfest. The jerseys were even available for fans to purchase during the two-day annual event.

Given the vast amount of Hispanic players who have played for the Reds over the years, I for one kind of like these.

What do you think?

Great tribute to the Havana Sugar Kings, Reds Triple-A team of the late 50's.

They are going to lose some fans

I for one am sick and tired of having Spanish shoved down my throat every where I look. This is America. If you want to come here and live SPEAK ENGLISH. Sad to see my Reds falling into line with being politically correct.

yeah republican fans - evolve retard.

if we lose fans because of this, we didn't need those kind of fans to begin with.

Hate it. Still my team, but I sure won't be coughing up cash for anything with "Los Rojos" on it.

Here's my take.

I did not support The Phoenix Suns when they put changed their uniforms in a protest against legislation. I thought it was done on the wrong stage and had a poor taste.

This however is different. This is not a political statement, however a 'salute' of sorts to the Hispanic players (from Hispanic countries) who helped shape the franchise.

The Reds have a rich heritage of Spanish speaking players. Think back to the Big Red Machine, to the 1990 team, to today's team.

Like I said, if it was supporting illegal immigration I would be 100% against this. If it was supporting anything political I would be against this. But it is not.

Next year I hope to see a "The Reds, Eh" to support Joey Votto.

I think we should also salute our German heritage and produce a German shirt. "die Reds" (German for "The Reds")Wait, that may not be the best message...what about Haitian Creole (in support of all of the great Haitian players "Reds yo". I love google translate!

Yes, this is America. Most citizens speak English. But c'mon! We are and always have been a melting pot. Some people need to stop being so closed minded.
