A few Reds news, notes, and nuggets

John Fay reports that there is still no word from Scott Rolen. Will he stay or will he go? This has been the burning question for Rolen this winter as he weighs retirement.

ESPN released its 2013 television schedule for Sunday Night Baseball on Tuesday. Amazingly, the Reds aren't on it. Neither are the Washington Nationals, who boasted the best regular season record in baseball last season. Cincinnati finished second at 97-65.

Mat Latos and his wife Dallas are allowing fans a pretty neat opportunity this spring. The couple provided directions on how fans could get their Latos jerseys autographed by sending them to the team's complex in Goodyear, Arizona. Check out Dallas' latest blog post details for the details.

One Bleacher Report writer suggests that Walt Jocketty would do well in extending the contracts of Latos, Johnny Cueto, and Homer Bailey....immediately.

John Sickels of SB Nation took the time to assign grades to who he believed are the top 20 prospects in the Reds' farm system. Of course, Billy Hamilton is perched on the top with an "A-", but see how the other players graded out. Also, be sure to keep checking back on the blog as staff writer Jon Davis continues to highlight some of the team's top minor league talent heading into the season.

Is Jonathan Broxton fit to be a closer again? This is the question posed by Kreg Miller of MLBCenter.com in a recent post. Warning: Reds fans may not like what he has to say about the big guy.

Veteran infielder Cesar Izturis will be among the 15 players invited to spring training as non-roster hopefuls, Mark Sheldon revealed on Monday. Hamilton will be another one of those players.

Speaking of Hamilton, he will be donning a new number this season. He has opted to snag the No. 6, which is the old number of the recently departed Drew Stubbs. Sean Marshall will change from No. 51 to No. 45. Broxton will now take over No. 51 after previously wearing No. 50.

MLB Network is set to unveil the Team USA roster for the World Baseball Classic on Thursday at approximately 10:00 AM. The remaining rosters for the 16-team field will be revealed later in the day around 4:00 PM. Brandon Phillips is expected to be among those representing the United States.
