2013 Reds predictions: Top Youngster

The end is near for our eight-part series of predictions for the Reds in 2013. We've covered several aspects of the everyday players from the big league club, but also of high importance is the future of the team. Even with the trades of the past couple years, the Reds still have a decent farm system teeming with prospects ready to make their mark on baseball. You can probably tell where this is going and who the Redlegs Review writers picked in this category.

The 2013 Reds Top Youngster:

Billy Hamilton

@RedlegsWriter: Did you expect anyone else? The record-setting speedster switched to center field this offseason and will start the season in Louisville, barring extraordinary circumstances. He is possibly the most exciting prospect the Reds have ever had and he fits an exact need the Reds will face in 2014. Shin-Soo Choo will man the leadoff spot in 2013, but he is seen as a stopgap until Hamilton is ready to join the team full-time, which everyone and their brother is predicting to be the 2014 season. There is a chance he could be in Cincinnati in 2013 if injury necessitates it and he will certainly be a September call-up this year after fans were disappointed he was not last season.

He has shown the ability to get on-base in the minors and we all know what he can do once he gets there. The stories are unbelievable about what he has accomplished with his speed. He's almost a legend and hasn't even taken one Major League at-bat. There's not one other player in the Reds organization whose arrival is more anticipated than Hamilton's and it's for good reason.

And in case you want to look back on a prior post, or just want to look ahead...
