Video: Corky Miller throws 54 MPH fastball
Fan favorite Corky Miller got his chance to toe the rubber for Triple-A Louisville Monday night.
The 37-year-old catcher was forced into action in the 12th inning when Jim Riggleman's club ran out of pitchers. So, Miller took to the hill and proceeded to toss 2/3 of an inning for the Bats, who eventually fell 13-11 to the Columbus Clippers.
Miller allowed no runs and one hit in his outing. He used a fastball maxing out at 61 MPH and a knuckleball bottoming out at 49 MPH to keep hitters off balance.
Amazingly, it marked Miller's fourth career appearance out of the bullpen. The last occurred while playing for the Richmond Braves in 2007.
