Eight Reds prospects selected to play in Arizona Fall League

The end of August also means the end of the season for most minor league teams across the country. Such is the case for several of Cincinnati's minor league affiliates, too. And while some prospects will pack up their bags and head home for awhile, others will take their talents to the Arizona Fall League to work on improving their game.

Here are the Reds prospects who were selected to participate in the AFL:

RHP Chad Rogers (Louisville)
RHP Drew Hayes (Pensacola)
RHP Jamie Walczak (Pensacola)
RHP Michael Lorenzen (Pensacola)
C Tucker Barnhart (Pensacola)
INF Travis Mattair (Pensacola)
OF Yorman Rodriguez (Pensacola)
OF Ryan LaMarre (Pensacola)

A few notes...

- Each player will suit up for the Glendale Desert Dogs.

- Billings Mustangs pitching coach Tom Browning will also be joining the squad and serving the same role as he does for Billings.

- The season gets underway Oct. 8 and runs until mid-November.

- The Desert Dogs finished with a 13-15-4 record in last season's AFL.

- Aside from Cincinnati, Glendale's roster is comprised of prospects from the Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami Marlins, Minnesota Twins, and Chicago White Sox organizations.
