Jay Bruce has decided to delete his Twitter account amid criticism he has received from his own fans. The 26-year-old called the move "a life decision" and also cited the fact that he spends too much time on the social media site as reason for his departure.
Bruce did quit Twitter. Says it was taking too much time. "It was a life decision. I got numb to all the ridicule." #reds @CincienquirerThis decision by Bruce was probably one he considered for awhile, though. In May, the Reds outfielder made headlines after he went on a rant calling out his naysayers on Twitter. I can imagine he was already thinking about doing away with his account then.

Bruce isn't the only professional athlete to shut down his Twitter activities this year. Former Atlanta Braves third basemen Chipper Jones quit in August due to criticism, too.
