Choo injured his left thumb on a play in the ninth inning of Friday's game when he slid headfirst into first base.
Fortunately, X-rays taken on his thumb Saturday were negative.
“The bones and everything are OK,” he said. “That eased my mind. I was scared. Last time, I needed surgery to fix it. That’s why I was worried.”
Choo had surgery on the same thumb in 2011.
“He knows he didn’t do a very smart thing,” Reds manager Dusty Baker said. “I hate to see guys slide headfirst, especially in first. You don’t get there any quicker. Actually, you get there slower. There’s a lot of things you can hurt."
Derrick Robinson started Saturday's game in centerfield in Choo's absence. Billy Hamilton got the starting nod in place of Choo in Sunday's contest.
