The Reds did what they had to do in Pittsburgh this weekend by taking two out of three against the Pirates to force a two-way tie in the division standings.
One of the catalysts behind Sunday's 11-3 rout was Todd Frazier. The New Jersey native may have only had one hit in five at-bats, but his hit was a long one, as evidenced by this video clip of his two-run blast in the top of the first inning. It marked the 18th home run of the season for Frazier and propelled Cincinnati to a 5-0 lead before the Buccos even had a chance to take a turn at bat.
Now, the fate of Cincinnati's postseason hopes fall on this final week of the regular season. They have a fantastic chance of hosting the Wild Card game and a slimmer chance of winning the division and ensuring themselves a spot in the NLDS. But a bad week could also mean they would have to play the Wild Card game on the road. They will need some help from the Nationals and Cubs to beat the Cardinals, but ultimately their fate is controlled by themselves. If they can take care of business at home against the New York Mets, and win the series against the Pirates this weekend, they should be in great shape.
