The Reds have struck early in free agency this offseason by signing 31-year-old outfielder Jason Bourgeois.
This is according to Matt Eddy of Baseball America via Twitter. Details of the deal were not immediately known.
Bourgeios appeared in nine games for the Tampa Bay Rays last season. He spent most of his time with Triple-A Durham where he slashed .290/.343/.368 with 61 RBI and 22 SB.
Overall, Bourgeios has spent time with the Houston Astros, Kansas City Royals, Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago White Sox, and the Rays over his professional career. In 231 lifetime big league games, he owns a .259 batting average and 51 stolen bases.
Cincinnati is bringing the veteran aboard to compete for a bench spot in 2014.
