Report: Rangers, Diamondbacks making strong pushes for Shin-Soo Choo

While day one of baseball's winter meetings in Florida didn't produce any substantial Reds news, there was a few tidbits regarding former Reds players. Namely, free agent outfielder Shin-Soo Choo.

According to multiple reports, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers are making valiant efforts to sign the South Korean native.

The Diamondbacks' interest in Choo is somewhat of a surprise as its a common belief around the league that the team doesn't have sufficient funds to match his $100 million-plus price tag. However, general manager Ken Towers has previously said the club is in need of a corner outfielder, and Choo would certainly fit the bill.

Meanwhile, the Rangers are also in need of an outfielder of Choo's caliber. And they are reportedly pushing hard to convince Choo and his infamous super-agent Scott Boras to sign a deal.

The Detroit Tigers, Baltimore Orioles, and the Reds have also been rumored to be interested. The New York Yankees were once reported to be in the sweepstakes until opting to sign free agent Jacoby Ellsbury, instead.
