#reds met on choo last night. have hopes, but inability to trade phillips first dims their chances a bit.According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Reds met with representatives for Shin-Soo Choo Tuesday night in hopes of re-signing the coveted outfielder.

However, as you can read from Heyman's tweet, he believes the club's inability to trade Brandon Phillips (and his $50 million contract) diminishes Cincinnati's chances at actually acquiring Choo.
One factor that is weighing in Cincinnati's favor is the way the market has collapsed for Choo. Entering the offseason, no less than a dozen teams were rumored to be interested in his services. Now, after several signings and trades, the number of potential suitors has shrunk to under a handful.
Sure, the Reds would love to have Choo back in the fold. But given his financial demands, it is going to be extremely tough to submit a competitive offer.
