Report: Shin-Soo Choo reaches seven-year deal with Rangers

Any sliver of hope the Reds had at possibly resigning Shin-Soo Choo was eliminated on Saturday as the Texas Rangers have apparently struck an accord with the coveted center fielder.

According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, Choo and the Rangers have reached an agreement on a seven-year deal worth approximately $130 million. The deal includes a limited no-trade clause and excludes any opt-outs or options.

Choo is represented by super agent Scott Boras.

The agreement comes as somewhat puzzling after reports surfaced earlier this week stating that Choo rejected a seven-year offer from the New York Yankees worth $140 million. However, considering New York has a state income tax and Texas does not, Choo will take home more money by playing for the Rangers instead of the Pinstripes.
