Report: Xavier Paul finds new team

Former Reds outfielder Xavier Paul has found a new home.

According to Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith, Paul has signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles that includes an invite to spring training.

The 28-year-old spent the past two seasons in Cincinnati before the team opted to non-tender him earlier this offseason. Paul took on the unofficial role of the go-to left-handed pinch hitter in 2013 and batted .273/.333/.576 in such situations. Overall, Paul batted .244/.339/.402 with the Reds this past season.

He is being brought in by Baltimore to compete with Nick Markakis, Adam Jones, and David Lough for playing time in a somewhat crowded Orioles outfield.
