Report: Reds ink Bobby Keppel to minor league deal

According to Matt Eddy of Baseball America, the Reds have agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Bobby Keppel to a minor-league deal.

Drafted by the Mets in the first round of the 2000 amateur draft, the 31-year-old has pitched for the Royals, Rockies and Twins, but has spent the past four seasons with the Nippon Ham Fighters in Japan. In 2013, Keppel tallied a 6.14 ERA with a 3.9 K/9 and a 4.9 BB/9 in 36 2/3 innings.

Yes, those are not exactly staggering numbers, however, the Missouri native should help provide some depth and leadership at the minor league level.

Keppel last pitched in the majors in 2009 for Minnesota.
