Aroldis Chapman leaves field on stretcher after taking line drive to face

A scary moment unfolded on the field Wednesday night when Aroldis Chapman had to be taken off the field with a stretcher after getting hit in the face with a line drive. The line drive was batted by Royals catcher Salvador Perez.

C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer chronicled the whole experience and noted how serious the situation appeared to be.

The game was immediately called after the umpires got together and deemed the best solution was to prematurely end it in the bottom of the sixth.

No word yet on the severity of Chapman's condition. More to come.

Update (11:35 PM): Rosecrans is reporting that Chapman suffered a laceration and a contusion above his left eye. However, the southpaw never lost consciousness.

Praying this is not as serious as it could be and that Aroldis makes a full and complete recovery.
