ESPN predicts the Reds will miss out on playoffs

In 2014, the Reds are gunning to make their fourth trip to the postseason in the last five years. As always, it won't be easy and new manager Bryan Price definitely has his work cut out for him. However, many outsiders still believe the Reds will get to the promised land again.

One entity that doesn't believe Cincinnati will return to the postseason is ESPN. In their recently published MLB Forecast post, Jim Caple, David Schoenfield and Christina Kahrl took a stab at prognosticating the seasons of every squad in the National League. As you can see from the illustration provided above, the pair chose the Reds to finish in third place with a record of 84-78, missing out on making the playoffs by just one game. According to ESPN, the Pirates and Braves will earn Wild Card berths while the Nationals, Cardinals, and Dodgers will win their respective division.
