The Atlanta Braves have capitalized on Cincinnati's misfortune by claiming right-handed reliever Pedro Beato off waivers, according to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution. He will immediately be added to Atlanta's active roster and will be in uniform for their game on Friday.
The Reds were forced to part ways with Beato on Sunday due to a rash of spring training injuries. The 6-foot-6 Beato was designated for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster.
The 27-year-old spent most of the 2013 season with Triple-A Pawtucket where he notched a 2.98 ERA in 51.1 innings of relief.
