Fans are often prone to quickly assigning blame when things go wrong with their team. But sometimes they forget to give credit where credit is due.
With that said, general manager Walt Jocketty should continue to receive praise for his foresight in snatching Alfredo Simon off waivers prior to the 2012 season.
To be fair, nobody (including Jocketty) would have been able to see what Simon has done this year coming. At age 33, Simon is defying the odds by dominating in his newfound starting pitching role.
On Wednesday, the right-hander became the first pitcher in the National League to notch 12 wins this season, and he did so by limiting the Cubs to one run over 6.2 innings.
