Video: Joey Votto cracks game-winning home run in extra innings

A victory didn't look too promising for the Reds when they entered the ninth inning of Friday's game in Pittsburgh. However, a series of fortuitous events allowed them to tie the score at five, force extra innings, and eventually set the stage for Joey Votto to smash a go-ahead home run in the top of the tenth.

It wasn't as majestic as one might have imagined it to be. But Votto's line drive blast was good enough to sail over the left field wall for his 24th home run of the year.

All in all, it marked an improbable and thrilling win for Dusty Baker's club, which helped propel them into a two-way tie with Pittsburgh for the top National League Wild Card spot.

Meanwhile, the St. Louis Cardinals were winners in Milwaukee, which kept the Reds a full two games back of them for first place in the division.
