Report: Reds add two more to coaching staff

After a relatively long wait to see who Bryan Price would get to fill out his coaching staff, this week has provided plenty of answers, as two more names were revealed Tuesday evening.

Price has tabbed Jeff Pico to join his staff as pitching coach while Don Long will take over the hitting coach duties. This is according to C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The 51-year-old Long has served as Atlanta's minor league hitting coordinator since 2011. Before then, Long was the hitting coach from 2008 to 2010 in Pittsburgh. He will replace Brook Jacoby after the latter served as the team's hitting coach for seven seasons.

Pico, 47, established a professional relationship with Price while the two were working together in the Arizona organization, where Pico has been since 2002. He held the position of minor league field coordinator for the past two seasons. Rosecrans reports that Pico also interviewed for the Phillies vacant pitching coach position.

On Monday, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports first reported that Jay Bell will replace Chris Speier as the Reds bench coach. Bell spent the 2013 campaign with the Pirates as their hitting coach.

The rest of the coaching staff is expected to be named by the end of the week.
